Then: Burke was Miss Florida in 1974, and went on to her greatest fame as, yes, a former beauty queen, Suzanne Sugarbaker, on "Designing Women," which debuted in 1986, among much big hair and shoulder pads. Burke was a sensation on the show, but as her fame grew ... moreso did her problems with her weight. The show even addressed the issue of Suzanne`s weight gain in some of its plotlines. After public (and nasty) disagreements with the show`s creators (including Linda Bloodworth-Thomason), Burke was axed from the show in 1991.
Now: Burke has struggled with... Read More

All the nice things about Suzanne are me. All the things that aren`t nice, that was just the writing.
And sometimes, when you feel low on yourself, that`s just when you have to go out there and be photographed or do a scene where you`re hot stuff. You`re always working on it.
Life looks different the second time around.
A vapid aspiring model killed in a car crash gets brought back to life as an intelligent, overweight lawyer, hoping to find the meaning of inner beauty.
April 2003 - While on the set of a new tv pilot, "Sweet Potato Queens", that was not picked up any network for the Fall 2003 season, some of her jewelry including her wedding and engagemant rings were stolen. The stolen jewelry was valued at approximately $74,000. The rings were inscribed with the word "always" and the date of her wedding. No clue to the thief and the LAPD told her that the common thing is to steal the diamonds and throw away the bands, so little hope of recovery was offered.
