NEW YORK – Laurence Fishburne says he and his new show are "a natural fit."
Well, it isn`t exactly a new show, of course. Now in its ninth season, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is one of TV`s most durable hits and a Thursday fixture at 9 p.m. EST. (This week`s episode features pop-singer sensation Taylor Swift as guest star.)
But recently this CBS drama finessed a tidy personnel transition, bidding farewell to its departing top dog, William Petersen, while phasing in Fishburne as Ray Langston, an academic turned rookie forensic investigator... Read More

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Laurence Fishburne is in talks to replace William Petersen as the star of CBS` veteran crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
The search for a new lead has been shrouded in secrecy, but sources say Fishburne is being heavily courted to play the new character, described as a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn`t previously acted on any homicidal impulses.
Fishburne, an Oscar nominee for "What`s Love Got to Do With It," had been mentioned as one... Read More

And not "off too do a play" gone like he was back in 2006. No, this season`s 10th episode will be his last as a full-time series regular.
"Billy is leaving," confirms the show`s executive producer, Carol Mendelsohn. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back.... Read More

The end is coming soon, Nice knowing you.
As an asteroid nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.
After Manhunter and To Live and Die, there were all these cop movies that came my way, but they weren`t any good, so I didn`t do them. Then there was talk about my doing Platoon, but I didn`t want to sit in a ditch in the Philippines for eight weeks for no money. Instead I did an HBO baseball movie for more money and more fun, and I got to play ball. I enjoy watching great movies like Platoon, but I don`t have to be in them. I never fell in love with movies. I didn`t want to spend all that time an effort. I`ve had it pretty good. I`ve had it my own way.
(On his life before his 2nd marriage) When I was younger, women wanted to sleep with me because of whatever movie or play they saw me in, and for about 15 years I certainly took advantage of that more often than not. I got married to my wife, Gina, last summer. I`d been working on the marriage thing with her, trying to get to a place where that was a good thing as opposed to a bad thing. Fidelity was hard when I was younger, but with maturity I got to a mindset of, What`s with all this running around to get girls? Now for me it`s the old case of, Why go out for hamburger when I`ve got steak at home?
Attended the renowned Steppenwolf Company.
Calls Long Gone (1987) (TV) the most fun he ever had making a movie. He made it instead of appearing in Platoon (1986).
