The problem for me, still today, is that I write purely with one dramatic structure and that is the rite of passage. I`m not really skilled in any other. Rock and roll itself can be described as music to accompany the rite of passage.
It wasn`t just about flashing lights and pinball machines blowing up and things like that. It was about using encores, bringing back the good songs and using techniques that I knew about from rock performance.
The Who were voted the 29th Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Artists of all time by Rolling Stone.
The TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000) and its spin-offs "CSI: Miami" (2002) and "CSI: NY" (2004) all use songs by Townshend/The Who as their theme songs: "Who are you", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Riley".
Who Postpone 50th Anniversary Tour Dates

The Who will begin the European portion of their 50th anniversary tour a little later than planned.
The group is scheduled to start what’s being billed as its last large-scale tour with a series of U.K. dates, but the first two on the list — Nov. 26 in Dublin and Nov. 28 in Belfast — have been bumped back to next summer due to “unforeseen logistical changes.” A Nov. 23 stop in Abu Dhabi, however, remains unchanged on the calendar.

The Who Announce Massive 50th Anniversary Tour for 2015

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will play a two-leg, 38-concert 2015 North American tour in celebration of the Who‘s 50th anniversary. Seventeen initial stops are set for the spring, followed by another 21 shows across the U.S. and Canada.

The Who have disclosed that they are going to record a new album this summer. It will be their first venture into a studio since 2006′s ‘Endless Wire.’

The Who to Reunite with Kenney Jones

Former Small Faces, Faces and Who drummer Kenney Jones has announced he will be reuniting with his old friends Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend for a benefit concert for prostate cancer awareness.
“Really pleased to hear my friends and former band mates Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will be joining me on stage, where we will all perform together,” said Jones on his Facebook page.
Following a routine check up last summer, Jones himself was diagnosed with cancer.
