British director’s credits include “Mad Love” and “Ravenous”
British film and television director Antonia Bird, whose work attracted controversy and acclaim in equal measure, died Thursday. She was 54 and the cause of death was anaplastic thyroid cancer.
Bird was perhaps best known for helming the drama “Priest,” which followed a gay cleric as he struggled to deal with the incestuous relationship between members of his flock, was widely condemned by the Catholic church and inspired protests. The film was a difficult sell for... Read More

Fans gathered at London's Leicester Square today to try and get a peek of Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, and Guy Pearce at the world premiere of Prometheus. The trio were also joined on the blue carpet by the film's director, Ridley Scott. Charlize, dressed in Christian Dior, is back in the UK following a recent stint there promoting her other major release, tomorrow's Snow White and the Huntsman with costar Kristen Stewart. Michael's in London, his home base, after a weekend of partying at Monaco's Formula One Grand Prix, where he ran into X-Men:... Read More

Jane Lynch kicked off this evening's Emmy Awards with a song and dance routine that included cameos from some of TV's most popular stars. Early supporting honors in a comedy went to small-screen couple Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, who actually beat out three of his male costars! Ty made a memorable acceptance speech about his late father. Charlie Sheen made a controversial appearance to present outstanding lead actor in a comedy series with some of his old competitors. While some were worried about what he'd say in relation to his departure... Read More

I was enjoying the final act of the solid "X-Men: First Class," when an unexpected familiar face appeared. Captaining an American warship, in a role that must have lasted a combined 45 seconds, was veteran supporting actor Michael Ironside. Suddenly the theater seat was a little more comfy, the effects a little more special and the Cherry Coke a little more delicious.
Ironside has that effect on mainstream action and sci-fi movies. While I've never seen him get higher than fifth or sixth billing, he's always an asset. Just having Michael Ironside walk... Read More

Stepping out for a Monday morning pick-me-up, Katie Holmes was spotted visiting Le Pain Quotidien earlier today (June 6).
The “Romantics” actress looked cute and casual in sweatpants and a sweatshirt as she picked up a cup of joe after a workout session at her gym in Beverly Hills.
In movie news, coming up later this summer, Katie’s film “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” will hit theaters on August 26th.
Co-starring Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison, the horror flick involves "a young girl sent to live with her father and his new... Read More

Growing up in regional Victorian town Geelong; he now resides in Melbourne, Australia.
In one scene of L.A. Confidential (1997), he accidentally drops his American accent, and briefly reverts back to his native Australian accent.
Fear the man with nothing left to lose.
10 years after a global economic collapse, a hardened loner pursues the men who stole his only possession, his car. Along the way, he captures one of the thieves' brother, and the duo form an uneasy bond during the dangerous journey.
Well, if you`d like to get technical, I`m English, and Russell`s from New Zealand. (when asked about the studio`s reluctance to hire "two Australians" for roles in the period piece L.A. Confidential (1997).)
I love being at home in Melbourne, reading scripts, doing the gardening and running around after my wife.
